In 2011, I met and joined a group of gals who rallied around a beautiful artist named Amanda Herring. She was (is) so inspirational with her fabric designs and her artwork. But most of all, she is a dear friend. I have watched her and admired her ability to go past the art and fabric to the depth of kindness and friendship.
{my besties…Julie, Amanda, (me), Brooke}
In that vein, Amanda has designed a beautiful quilt called the Friendship Quilt, and all this summer, she has been doing a Friendship Quilt Long. Amanda is a gatherer of people, and for this Quit Along, she has gathered a bunch of her friends to create this gorgeous Friendship Quilt together. It’s not too late for you to join in!!
I’m so honored to be showing this week’s block: Devoted
For my take on the Devoted block, I wanted to show how to create a stand-alone project with the block: a 12″ pillow…
Sometimes we just need a reminder to love. And we need that reminder to be pretty, pretty!!
I used four fabrics from Amanda’s line, Hello Lovely that I got from Julie over at Intrepid Thread. My fave is that background fabric with those roses peeking through.
I used my Cricut to cut out the block and then to cut out the scripture (Romans 12: 10) that I used out of iron-on vinyl.
Like I said, sometimes we need a reminder…
I used the back envelope method of making a pillow.
I decorated my sweet bed with this fabulous block pillow and my Sheepy from my very talented friend Nej at Doozerbug and my sweet hand-embroidered sheepy pillowcases from my mom. (She’s extrememly talented, too!!)
You can join in and make the entire quilt with Amanda or just a block here and there. Grab a FQ bundle of Hello Lovely from Julie and get to sewing! And stay tuned! Because next week I get to share with you another block from this fabulous quilt along!!! yay!!
Blessings,
