Happy Wednesday! This week I want to talk to you about something serious, trendy, and essential to our daily lives.
Self care!
I’m excited to join Jessica with the DIBY Club and 11 other bloggers in bringing you awesome crafty projects for Self Care. A list of all of the bloggers and a giveaway are at the end of this post!!
{My Cricut Links are affiliate links: what that means is that when you purchase, you don’t have to pay a penny more, but I will get a little bit of something to help with my Dave Ramsey Baby Steps!}
{Share the love! Please pin this!!}
Self care can be as simple as a refreshing playlist on Spotify. It can be as restorative as sitting in a tub with a good book. It can be as transforming as sitting in a Bible study and hearing a powerful truth for the first time. It can be a moment in the morning reading a gorgeous quote on your bathroom mirror.!
For me, the most important thing about self care is filling up with God’s love so that God’s love will pour out of me onto others. It may sound a bit trite, but this is exactly why, as moms, we need to take time for ourselves so that we can take care of our little beans!! (or big beans in my case!) This is why as wives, we need to take a moment to regroup so we can uplift our spouses on a daily basis. This is why we as friends need to fill ourselves with the truth of knowing that we are LOVED! So we can go out and love others!
“How can I do this?” we ask. Well, I’ve got an idea for you.If you are a regular reader of Sally’s Angelworks, this self care tip will not surprise you!
{If you are a new reader, welcome!! Read my ABOUT page to get to know me a little better.}
My idea? Words!!!
Fill your mind with inspirational text! Here are two ways to inspire yourself through inspirational text:
-
1. Fun Coffee Mugs
- Using my Cricut Maker and Cricut Premium Vinyl, I created this mug!!
- Sometimes we just need to remember that we need to take small bites of life. Okay, everyday, I need to remember this!!
- Here is how to decorate this mug:
- I designed my text in Cricut Design Space and set it up to cut in the way I wanted it to look on the mug.
- Use Cricut Premium Outdoor Vinyl! It is pretty amazing. The Cricut Maker (using the Fine Blade for this project) cuts it out effortlessly!
- It’s glossy, so I had to have a bit of sunshine to show you how it looked after cutting.
- I pulled the background vinyl off and left the text on the paper backing. I covered the text completely with transfer tape and then placed that transfer tape (text and all!) onto the mug exactly where I wanted it. I took the transfer tape off of the mug leaving the vinyl right where it is! Another hint for you: Dollar Tree has mugs that work wonderfully for this technique! Perfect Mom’s day gifts or Father’s day gifts!
-
2. Cool Embroidered Mug Rugs
- No mug is complete without a mug rug:
- I cut this project completely out and did the text in Cricut Design Space (Go HERE for the project accessible with a Cricut Access Membership). You only need three patterned fabrics and white fabric for your embroidery! Use the picture above to use as a guide on how to sew your pieces together. I love the ease of this project!
Look at those words…There is no song greater than love. It makes me think of Zephaniah 3:17, my life verse:
17 “The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
- These are the truths we need to keep in front of us for the ultimate self care. So that we can turn around and care for those around us!!!
- So as I take life one cup at a time, I’m remembering that the Lord is singing a song of LOVE over me daily!
- Oh, and Eli is just chilling, too…his idea of self care is sleeping on a half-made mini quilt waking only to watch the Cricut Maker while in action! If you have any questions on the creation of these projects, do not hesitate to leave a comment or email me at sally@sallysangelworks.com.
And know that the Lord is pouring out his care on you, too!
Jessica is letting me giveaway a FREE pattern for her new Gabriela DIY Pajama Suit Pattern. Just leave a comment here on this post and I’ll pick a winner next Monday, March 26th in the morning.
