Yipeeeee!!! It’s Spring Break!
And it’s my week to REOXYGENATE!!!
Let’s look at 5 ways to do that:
1. Get enough SLEEP!!
I have one word that goes with this: (preaching to me here!!!) Consistency!!! I have noticed that as I get older, my body wakes me up earlier and earlier. I don’t even set my alarm clock any more unless I have a super early wake up time. So, as I am naturally waking earlier, I need to be consistent about getting to bed at a decent time. For me, that’s 11pm. If I start around 10:45-11 to get ready for bed and am IN bed by 11-11:15, I will be asleep by 11:30 and I get my 7 hours that I require to be a nice momma and wife!
TIP: If you are a night owl like me, set your alarm to GO to bed!! 🙂
2. Attack the things on your to-do list that are stressing you out FIRST thing in the morning to get them out of the way!!
Let’s face it. We are all going to have things we need to do that we don’t particularly like to do. Things that we think, “I could be having a lot more fun doing this other thing over there. So I choose that thing instead.” and then we are stressing about the thing we needed to get done!!! Just get those annoying things out of the way quickly. I’ve heard that it is terrible for your skin to rip a bandaid off quickly, but it also makes the pain bearable. Go ahead and rip it. JUST DO IT! {my three-word One Little Word for the year}
3. Me TIME!!! We all need this!
Last weekend I went with these sweet girlies to visit the Texas Quilt Museum. It was an awesome trip that filled me with inspiration, wonderful fellowship, and a renewed sense of wonder about all of the  options for quilting. We need that in our lives. We need to renew our wonder A LOT! We need to make sure we are curious and exploring the beautiful things God has put in front of us. Literally, we need to smell the roses! Even SEE the roses!!
Speaking of roses…
It’s Bluebonnet time in Texas!!! yes!!!! Me time! It’s important!
4. Eat less SUGAR!! (I’m sorry…this one is for me. I need to read this over and over again!)
I’m not going to go into all of the horrible studies and opinions on SUGAR. I’m just going to tell you that, in order to really have physical well-being, avoid it in large quantities. My darling friend Pam is my role model. When she wants sugar, she eats fruit. It’s been a super hard transition for me. Uh yeah, I did eat a cookie while taking the photo above…sigh. But I tracked it, so I won’t gain this week!!
5. Learn a new technique or skill or genre!!
There is nothing that gets me going like taking an online class or finding a new artist or learning a new skill. So many options out there. Free options, too! Pinterest can really inspire and lead you to new tutorials. There are even free tutorials right here on my blog! I encourage you to learn something new to give you new breath. We need that breath to keep us oxygenated.
What are you going to do to reoxygenate this week???
Me? I’m sewing, sewing, sewing…that ME time is precious when I can grab it.
Blessings!!!!
This is a really useful article. I am trying to eat less sugar but absolutely love sweet food, slowly but surely will make it count as I don’t intend to give up completely just cut back as much as I can without feeling deprived. x
