Ohhhh these girlies! This is a tradition I am loving! This darling designer Vanessa Christenson has such a giving heart and a wonderfully creative spirit!
Her latest fabric line is called Color Theory. and at Fall Quilt Market last year, she gave all of us in this group a mini charm pack.
Once again, like last year, we challenged each other to post a project on Valentine's Day using that sweet little charm pack!!!
And here's my finished project!!
This is a wonderful quilt (burrito-sized…meaning you can wrap yourself in it like a burrito) using just the charm pack and a set of Vanessa's ombre yardage.
I'll be posting a pattern for this within the next 48 hours! (I have some clothes sewing I want to get done today! My valentine's gift to myself!) But I'll tell you it's super easy to put together!
I actually didn't fuss too much about placement. It was easy to match the lighter strips/squares of the ombre to each other and the darker together. I wasn't going to cut to match…using a design board made it super easy!
And using a Bella Solid grey as my irish chain pieces to go with the color theory charm pack made it all come together very well!!
I did cheat a little and use pieces of this awesome fabric that my friend Stephanie got me at Quilt Festival last year. This adds a bit more of me in it…SHEEP!!! I'm tempted to put sheep into every quilt I make! (kinda like a where's waldo element! LOL!!)
I also used it in the corner blocks. This sheep fabric is from Cloud9.
I did have leftovers from the mini charm pack…so I added it to the back…
Here are some other shots….
(I love the border quilting! It makes me think of the Hobbit since I was listening to that on audible.com while sewing it!)
I'll post links to everyone's projects when I post the pattern!! 🙂
and hey! go buy all the color theory over at Julie's store, the Intrepid Thread!!
I hope you are having a blissful Valentine's day as I am!!!
Blessings!
