{Cinderberries Folk Tale Fabric!!!}
Happy 3rd of July!!! :)
Are you getting ready for some celebrating???
We are having the fam and a few friends over for a fun pool party…
so of course, we need some decorations!
But before I share a fun table topper tutorial with you, I wanna show off some fabric that I recently got from my darling BFF, Julie over at Intrepid Thread:
Oh Folk Tale, I love you!!
I got this stack from Fall Market last Oct. I've been hoarding until I could get more fabric to make a big quilt!! 🙂 I'm all good now!!
A Merry Little Christmas by Zoe Pearn for Riley Blake Designs
I adore snowmen!!!
This set of fabulously gorgeous fabrics is called Paloma (like my niece) from Dear Stella!!
I have a big project planned for this…well, a throw sized project planned!! LOL!! Stay tuned for sneaky peeks in the next two weeks!!
This is one of the lines I have been desperately waiting for …
Reminisce by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics!
Remember when I met her at Quilt Market? So fun!!
And her booth!!!
Yeah, this is why I couldn't wait to get my hands on this fabric!!! So yummmy!!
I haven't decided what to do with it yet…it may just get opened and refolded and opened and refolded over and over! yummy!!
Ohhhhhh, I wish I could buy everything in Julie's store!! Eeeeeek!!!
Okay…are you ready to create????
The Starry Starry Flag Table Topper (by Sally's Angelworks)
Supplies:
4 red fat eighths
4 blue fat quarters (1 with a white background)
backing and batting
rotary cutter and ruler
Cutting:
From the Background white/blue fabric:
6 6.5"x 4.5" strips
2 6.5" x 2.5" strips
4 2.5" x 4.5" strips
From the dark blue (middle of the star) fabric:
1 6.5" x 4.5" rectangle
From each of the two blue star fabrics:
for the side triangles – 1 of each fabric 4"x9" strip
for the top and bottom triangles – 2 of each fabric 4.5" squares
From the reds:
2 strips of reds with white background – 20.5" x 4.5"
2 strips of reds with red background – 20.5" x 4.5"
Let's Sew!!!
Let's start by sewing the side triangles:
Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the other on the back of the background fabric. Place the diagonal line 1.4" on the edges of the blue strip. Sew along those diagonal lines.
Press the seam toward the blue fabric.<<—-** this is very important!! ** Flip the strip with the wrong side up.
Using a ruler, trim the blue strip off of the 2.5"x4.5" strip.
For the top and bottom triangles, place one square on the background 6.5"x4.5" strip. Draw a line on the diagonal of your square. Sew on that line.
Fold the triangle back and press.
Lay the other square on the other side of the rectangle.
Draw a diagonal line on the second square. Sew on that line and fold back and press.
Set all of your pieces together to make your starry block.
Sew together in rows, starting with the smaller strips (6.5" x 2.5") onto the open edge of the top and bottom triangle blocks.
Take your four red strips and sew them together.
Sew your strips to your star block. And you have your topper top!!
Add batting and backing and quilt!
I quilted around my star 1/4" and then stippled in the background fabric. I quilted straight flag-like lines on the red strips…
Cut the binding strips 2.5" and bind your sweet table topper! I love the navy contrast with the red and white!
And you're all done!! yay!!
I think you have plenty of time to whip this up before your friends and family make it over tomorrow!!!
Enjoy and many blessings!!!!
I love it. I don’t want to make it; I just want it! It is a great idea, Sally.
Thanks, Mom!! I bet I know where you can get one!!! ♥
