So tomorrow is the big day!!! yipeeee!!!
Right here on this blog I will have a daily post for 12 days straight that hopefully inspires you to enjoy the season that much more!! I have been having such a wonderful time preparing for this time!! If it has been hectic, I haven’t noticed! I feel more focus than anything…and that just heightens the joy!!
But before we start, I want to show off a little more!! LOL!!!
This December has been about finishing! Let me show you a couple of projects that I’ve finished lately!!
These are called “Santa Blankets”! My darling friend Krista has “Santa” make them in his (her) workshop and send them to her. And then on Christmas morning, when her girlies come out to the tree, each of their stacks of presents are covered with their very own blanket!! These particular ones (like last year’s) are personalized!! This would be great for me, since I’d never remember which color I told Santa to make for which kid!! LOL!!!
Aren’t they great??? They also feed my addiction to flannel that I always forget I have until I embark on this project!! 🙂

So, remember how I told you that Brazos River Turnaround was coming out with a new Christmas album?? It’s here!!! 🙂
You can email me at sally AT sallysangelworks DOT com if you just can’t wait for the digital download…OR if you want it for a fun stocking stuffer!!
We had a wonderful jazz concert last night! Here’s a pic that our guitarist’s wife took with her iphone…I think she was really taking it of her hubby, but you can see me crooning!! LOL!!
Isn’t that fireplace in the background fun?? I tried to tell them it was a little warm, but they just wouldn’t listen!! LOL!!!
Okay, so I had to show you this pic so that you could kind of see my scarf that I’m wearing…
I made it about 30 minutes before we left to go to the gig! I knew I wanted something holiday-ish, but out of fabric that I absolutely loved. So I grabbed the Kumari Holiday fabric that I’ve been hoarding for advent calendars. Since all of the calendars are made for this year, it was a perfect choice for this project!!
I did it very quickly…took two pieces of fabric, ripped off big strips WOF (width of fabric) and sewed them together, ironed them, added lace at each end and put it on!!!
Here’s what it looked like close up…
so, I decided that maybe it was a little short…So today, I added a middle section…
love!!
and the final project?
A fun holiday scarf!! And you know, this fabric may not be as obviously “holiday” as other Christmas fabrics!! So I may wear it all winter!! 🙂 Did I mention that I LOVE antique lace??? just sayin’…

Doesn’t this look soooo fun???
I’m excited to share my next picture tutorial for a mini art quilt right here right now!!!!!
Here’s what we are making!!!
a fun deviation from the normal “holiday” colors!!
Here’s what you need:
6 fat quarters of Pear Tree designed by Thomas Knauer
(I used his blue colorway!! you can get any of the colorways over in Julie’s store!!)
1 fat quarter of a neutral fabric
(I used Zoe Pearn’s Indian Summer Basic Shades Cream from Riley Blake)
a Sizzix Big Shot Pro
(okay, this is really optional, but it really makes things super easy for this quilt!!)
Circle Dies and scallop die and that other die that I can’t think of what shape it is!! LOL!!
Embroidery Thread, hoop, needle and a fun movie to watch while embroidering!!
Fusible web that you put on the backs of the pieces that will run through the Sizzix!
That’s pretty much all you need!! Except your fun sewing machine!!
Let’s make it!!
and there you have it!!
Feel free to email me with any questions or answers or comments!! Or you can just comment on the post!!! I just love it here in my kitchen!! It’s perfect for the holiday season!! (and it’ll be perfect after, too!)
