Welcome to the 2019 Sally’s Angelworks!!! I’m super excited to start this year’s blogging with an exciting new product: Cricut’s BrightPad™. Cricut describes this crafting light pad like this: “Cricut BrightPad™ is the brilliant crafting companion that illuminates projects for easier crafting and reduced eye strain.”
This is such a fun product!! I am a huge lightbox user, so I was delighted when Cricut came out with this crafting light pad. Here are some features of the Cricut BrightPad™:
- Bright, uniform LED light
- 5 brightness settings
- Lightweight, portable, and durable
- 9 in. x 11.5 in. lit area
- Nonslip base
- 6 ft. USB power cord
I can copy and paste a bunch of information about the Cricut BrightPad™, but it’s better for me to show you different ways to use it!
I made two pillows using my Cricut Maker, some Cricut HTV (heat transfer vinyl), a sheet of Cricut Felt, a gorgeous stack of fabrics, AND my BrightPad™ and Cricut accessories.
My first use for my BrightPad™ is weeding my Cricut Glitter vinyl. Let me show you what I mean:

I love the ease with which this crafting light pad makes weeding the Cricut glitter vinyl! When you are watching the time-lapse video, watch how there are itty-bitty pieces within the letters and how I can actually see them
On Father’s Day last year, I presented Mr. Gorgeous with three t-shirts with his favorite sports team logos on them. I made them without the use of the BrightPad™, and I tell you, I left a piece of random vinyl on each t-shirt. The extra vinyl is hardly noticeable, but I notice it!! (Mr. Gorgeous still loves them and wears them all the time!)
With the use of the BrightPad™, I didn’t miss a piece of vinyl on my two pillows!
Here are some other steps in my first project:
Using the Cricut Felt and my Cricut Maker, I cut out different stars and a heart on my StrongGrip Mat. Using my Cricut tools, I removed the felt from the mat.
I cut my fabrics to the size of the blocking for my pillow. I sewed the front pieces together, but before I sewed the back to the front, I applied my Cricut glitter vinyl using my Easy Press 2. {Check out this post here all about the Easy Press 2!}
Here’s my finished project:
I couldn’t just keep to one pillow since the Maker, the BrightPad™, and the EasyPress2 made the whole process so easy!
Ohhhh those little pieces again! Yay for the BrightPad™!!
Here is the cut file for this project: True Love Pillow
This is just the first post in my journey with the BrightPad™, but weeding vinyl is one of the best uses for this crafting light pad! Stay tuned to next week’s blog post about 3 other main ways I use my BrightPad™.
Friday, I will have a new series starting here on the blog!
Friday’s Fun Five
It’s going to be exciting, inspiring, and full of life, crafting, and hope!
Blessings,
